Preparation Phase
The patient undergoes transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), blood tests, and cardiac evaluation. General anaesthesia is administered and vital signs are monitored.
Femoral Access
A 24F special catheter sheath is placed in the right femoral vein. Transseptal catheterisation is used to access the left atrium from the right atrium.
Mitra Clip Placement
The catheter is positioned on the mitral valve under 3D TEE guidance. The Abbott MitraClip system is used to grasp and lock the valve leaflets.
Final Check and FollowIup
The success of the procedure is evaluated using TEE and haemodynamic measurements. The patient is first monitored in the intensive care unit, then in the ward, and called for a check-up within a week.
