The diagnosis of breast cancer is one of the most critical processes in modern medicine. With a 98% survival rate when detected at Stage 1, comprehensive diagnostic services are provided at 258 breast centres across all 81 provinces of Turkey.
The diagnostic process begins with a physical examination by specially trained experts. This 15-20 minute examination can detect masses larger than 0.5 cm with 82% accuracy. Experienced physicians evaluate skin changes (75%), nipple discharge (90%) and lymph nodes (85%).
Modern imaging technologies strengthen the diagnosis. Digital mammography can detect calcifications as thin as 0.1 mm and provides 87-92% accuracy in women over 40. Ultrasound, preferred for younger women, offers 96.7% accuracy, while MRI used for high-risk patients provides 98.7% accuracy.
Biopsy, the definitive diagnostic test, can be performed in three ways: rapid fine needle aspiration (95% accurate), core biopsy (97%) or surgical biopsy (99.9%). Biopsy reports prepared within 72-96 hours analyse the tumour type, hormone receptors and other markers, enabling a personalised treatment plan. This detailed analysis improves treatment success by 40%.
