CTO treatment is a highly successful treatment method developed for patients whose heart muscle does not receive sufficient blood due to blockage in the coronary arteries. This treatment is particularly recommended in the following cases:
- Patients who have not responded to drug therapy for at least 3 months and continue to experience chest pain
- Patients who are at high risk for bypass surgery or prefer not to undergo this treatment
- Patients in whom complete blockage has been detected by angiography and collateral circulation has developed
- Patients with risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension or high cholesterol
- Patients whose daily activities are restricted and have a low quality of life
However, this treatment cannot be applied to patients with severe kidney failure, recent stroke, bleeding disorders or contrast agent allergy.
For the treatment decision, each patient is comprehensively evaluated with tests such as coronary CT angiography, stress test and blood tests. As a result of these evaluations, the suitability of the treatment is decided and a personalised treatment plan is created.
