Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery

Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery

Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery (Single Anastomosis Gastric Bypass – OAGB) is a modern and safe metabolic surgery method. In this laparoscopically performed procedure, the stomach is transformed into a tube with a volume of 30-40 ml, and a new connection is created with the small intestine. Experienced surgeons complete this procedure in an average of 45-60 minutes.

This surgery is suitable for patients with a body mass index
(BMI) over 40 or between 35-40 with diseases such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or sleep apnea. According to clinical results, patients lose 35-40 kg in the first 6 months and 45-55 kg in 1 year. Metabolic improvement rates are also high: Diabetes improves significantly in 85% of patients, hypertension in 82% and sleep apnea in 92%.

Patients usually stay in the hospital for 2-3 days and return to their normal activities within 2-3 weeks. The nutrition program progresses in four stages: Liquid foods for the first 14 days, puree foods for 15-30 days, soft foods for 30-45 days and normal nutrition from the 6th week. For successful results, a daily protein intake of 80-100 grams and regular vitamin-mineral supplementation (B12, iron, calcium and vitamin D3) are required.
