Aesthetic Operations After Obesity Surgery

Aesthetic Operations After Obesity Surgery

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

Abdominoplasty is the first procedure preferred by patients after bariatric surgery. It is performed when the BMI falls below 30 and remains stable for at least 18-24 months. In the procedure, the rectus muscles are tightened, excess skin is removed using VASER technology, and the navel is repositioned. It requires a 2-3 day hospital stay and the use of a special compression corset for the next 4 weeks. Complete success is achieved in 92% of patients, with temporary side effects such as seroma, wound infections, and temporary numbness.

Brachioplasty (Arm Lift)

Brachioplasty, which can be performed 3 months after abdominoplasty, is recommended for patients with skin laxity of more than 3 cm. Using modern techniques, excess tissue is removed from each arm while preserving the lymph nodes. A compression bandage is used for the first 2 weeks and the arms are elevated. Full recovery takes 8-12 weeks, and optimal results are achieved in 88% of patients. The scar is hidden in the arm crease and is supported by silicone band therapy.

Thigh Lift

The thigh lift, which can be performed 4 months after brachioplasty, is applied to patients with a BMI between 27-30 who have maintained a stable weight for at least 6 months. Excess tissue is removed using a T-shaped incision and the Lockwood technique. During the healing process, compression stockings and special bandages are used, activities are restricted, and lymph drainage is applied. Optimal results are achieved in 85% of patients.

Liposuction

Liposuction, the final stage of body contouring, is performed 6 months after the other procedures. Fat is removed through micro-incisions using VASER, power-assisted, or laser techniques. A compression corset and lymph drainage are applied for 4-6 weeks after the surgery. The best results are obtained in patients with high skin elasticity, and the targeted body contour is successfully achieved in 95% of patients.

Mastopexy (Breast Lift)

Mastopexy, which can be performed 3 months after the thigh lift, corrects the volume loss that occurs after bariatric surgery. The BMI must be below 30 and the weight must have been stable for at least 18 months. The nipple-areola complex is elevated, and silicone implants can be placed optionally. A special bra is worn for 6 weeks after the surgery, and activities are restricted. Optimal results are achieved in 90% of patients, and the breastfeeding function is preserved in women of childbearing age.
